Posted by Info on 16/08/2009

Major General Ferencz Banfi, the head of the European Union Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine  said drug trafficking remains a problem on the Transdniestrian segment of Moldova’s border with Ukraine, but that the most common goods currently being smuggled are stolen cars, cigarettes, alcohol, and food — especially chicken.

Posted by Info on 16/08/2009

Posted by Info on 16/08/2009

Radio Free Europe : Oleg Orlov, the head of Memorial, told journalists at a press conference in Moscow on July 16 that Kadyrov is personally responsible for Estemirova’s death. Orlov said he never thought about any of the consequences of his statements, but the most important thing for him is to find the people who ordered and carried out Estemirova’s killing.

Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov has filed a lawsuit against the head of a human rights center who accused him of involvement in the murder of Chechen rights activist Natalya Estemirova.

Kadyrov has accused Orlov of “insulting his honor and dignity.”

Kadyrov is demanding a public apology from Orlov and the equivalent of $316,000 (10 million roubles) as compensation for moral damage. Moscow’s Tverskoi Court has begun an investigation.
