Posted by Info on 15/05/2010

The EU will allocate $51 million in the period until 2013 towards legal and health care reforms in Kyrgyzstan.
The situation in Kyrgyzstan, where a bloody uprising led to the overthrow of the government in early April, worsened on Thursday when administrative buildings in three southern regions – deposed President Kurmanbek Bakiyev’s former power base – were stormed by his supporters.

“The country needs financial and political support from the EU. The financial plan will allocate $51 million in the period until 2013 for legal and health care reform,” Michel Voisen said on Saturday at the second Trans-Asian Parliamentary Forum in the Kazakh city of Almaty.

He said the OSCE is ready to support the new Kyrgyz government if it carries out its intension to stabilize the situation in the country and reform the health care system.
