Posted by Info on 30/06/2010

An explosion set off on Wednesday by a suicide bomber injured at least five police officers in Grozny when the 22-year-old terrorist approached a police vehicle parked near a concert hall. Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov was reportedly in the building at the time of the explosion.

Sporadic terrorist attacks and militant clashes are common in Russia’s southern mainly Muslim republics in the North Caucasus, especially Chechnya, Dagestan and Ingushetia.

Russia has been fighting militants in the North Caucasus for over a decade, including two separatist wars in Chechnya.
