Former President of Kyrgyzstan Kurmanbek Bakiyev At Trial

The judicial trial on the April events of 2010 when 77 people was killed on Ala-Too Central Square in Bishkek on tragic April 7. starts on November 17 in the Kojomkul Sports Palace.

The materials of the criminal case, according to lawyers, amount to 60 volumes. There are 28 defendants, 6 of whom are put in the international wanted list, including Kyrgyzstan’s second President Kurmanbek Bakiyev, his brother – ex-Chief of the State Protection Service Zhanysh Bakiyev, his son Marat Bakiyev, as well as former Premier Daniyar Usenov, Chief of the intelligence agencies Murat Sutalinov and Commander of Arstan SPS special forces Bayish Esenbay uulu.

Russia: Kadyrov’s Lawyer Files Lawsuit Against “Memorial”

Andrei Krasnenkov, advocate of the Chechen President, filed a civil claim on his own behalf on protection of business reputation against the Human Rights Society “Memorial”, demanding compensation of 500,000 roubles.

The reason of the suit was an article published on the official website of the “Memorial” on September 30 “Representative of Ramzan Kadyrov Misleads Journalists”. According to Krasnenkov, the article contains “slanderous allegations.”

He asks the court to oblige the human rights organization to refute the challenged information, and to collect from the “Memorial” 500,000 roubles as compensation of moral harm, the “Interfax” writes.

Andrey Krasnenkov, Ramzan Kadyrov’s representative in criminal case that charges Oleg Orlov with libel*, regularly gives misleading information to journalists.
For example, Krasnenkov claims that Orlov and Human Rights Center Memorial representatives have been trying to forge a part of the materials that they had represented during the civil suit**. Kadyrov’s representative was referring to the transcripts of the video recordings with Kadyrov and other Chechen Republic officials’ public statements that they made on Chechen television.

According to Mr Krasnenkov, the pre-trial preparation on the suit is scheduled for December 6, the RAPSI reports.
